Alright so as I was finishing up all of my school work, I realized I had not typed one of my blogs. Therefore I looked back into my book to remember what exactly happened in the section. I will start of my post with a quote from Carter "Abby looked back at me with a tear running down her cheek, once again informing me of how stupid I am" (Kindle App) This quote captures the just of how Carter feels throughout the entirety of this section. Carter portrays a period of "down in the dumps" when he realizes that he hurt a girl that he really liked. Although he had so much else, he did not have the one thing he really wanted. We found out once again how much Carter vents his anger about the issue into sports. First, we witnessed him unleashing himself through football. Now, we see Carter releasing his angst via swim team. He starts out in the "big mans" shadow. He is number two on the swim team. But because this guy (Big Man) is dating Carter's Abby, Carter only wants to beat him. He works his butt off in this part of the book and ends up qualifying for state and beating him. Carter wins his dignity back. A theme emerges here; "With the will, one can accomplish that which was previously thought to be unachievable".
